Jonathan Jones (JJ) Takano grew up playing soccer in Japan (Tokyo), Brazil (Londorina), and Spain (La Coruna).
He studied in Boston and played for both a community college and a college.
Jonathan also played for the Northern Mariana Islands Men's Soccer National team; he says he can still play but doesn't see himself playing anymore for the national team.
JJ began coaching in 2012 in Boston for Bunker Hill Community College as an assistant coach for one season while he was a student. Once finished with school in 2014 JJ moved to Saipan (Northern Mariana Islands) working for grassroots soccer projects.
In 2015 JJ moved to San Diego to coach with LA Galaxy San Diego (currently City SC Carlsbad). In 2016 he returned to Saipan to work as an assistant for Northern Mariana Islands Football Association U16/U19 National Teams.
Once again coming back to San Diego 2018 he worked with Carlsbad Matrix for one season before switching to AYSO United North County and has finally found his way to the Blues.
Minor detail but Jonathan is married and they have a daughter named Coco. I am married and have a daughter Coco.
