Just The Facts
Liverpool University found that “futsal players touch the ball as much as 6x more often per
minute than outdoor full-field soccer players.
FIFA’s Official indoor soccer game is Futsal. Futsal is a small-sided 5v5 game similar to soccer
that is played on a hard surface.
Futsal teaches technique, tactical awareness, mental decision making, and a love of scoring
goals.
With the smaller court and fewer players, individual players are rewarded with goal scoring opportunities more often. This leads to creativity and confidence with the ball.
The Futsal Is Different
With the weighted ball, passing and receiving becomes easier. The application of this leads to teams and players learning speed of play, off-the-ball movements, playing to feet, 1 and 2 touch skill, quality first-touch, shooting angles, small space ball control, combination play, confidence or poise on the ball, 1v1, 2v1, 2v2, etc., and more. The development both in attack and in defense are then accelerated.
