Michael was born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland in 1989. Born at 3pm on a Saturday (the traditional soccer kick-off time in Scotland) he was always going to be involved in the sport.
A functional, but very average left back, injuries curtailed any hope of a playing career. Not giving up hope of a career in the game, Michael attended Edinburgh Napier University eventually attaining a Sports Coaching and Exercise Science honors degree. During his studies, he began working his way through Scottish Football Association coaching licenses. Michael is currently on the verge of completing his SFA Advanced Children’s License.
On leaving university, Michael began work as a Football Development officer with the Scottish Football Association overseeing programming, club and coaching support in his region.
In 2016, Michael left Scotland to begin a coaching role with a large youth soccer organization in California. Excelling in an intense and competitive environment, Michael was placed to work alongside a Southern California Soccer Club in 2017.
Not content with his Scottish Football Association Coaching Licenses, Michael is currently looking to work his way up the US Soccer Pathway, he recently achieved is USSF D License.
Michael has a passion for developing young soccer players and teams as players and as people.
