Program Director
National, Professional, college, amateur and youth, Tad Bobak has coached it all. Bobak has worked with the LA Aztecs of the NASL, he was an assistant men's coach at USC, UCLA and Cal State-Los Angeles. Until recently, Tad was the Head Coach of the UC Santa Barbara women's college soccer program. Included in Tad's coaching experience is a stint as assistant coach for the U.S. Women's National Team in 1987 under Anson Dorrance.
In 1982, Tad started, along with UC Irvine Director of Soccer Marine Cano, the CYSA-South Girl's Olympic Development Program. Tad took the lead in developing Southern California's ODP and that effort has had long-term positive effects for our U.S. Women's National Team and Youth Women's National Teams. Several prominent women's players have come out of Southern California, including Julie Foudy, Joy Fawcett, Carin Gabarra and Shannon Boxx.
One of Tad's goals was to create a club with a hierarchy of teams beginning at the youth level and ending with a powerful women's side. In 1985 he founded the Southern California Blues Adult Women's Team and his goal was achieved when Larry Draluck formed the youth program in 1990. The Blues now sponsor over 30 youth teams.
