The Blues once again fell into good fortune when Randy's services became available in May of 1997. Randy came to the Blues after a successful three year stint as a Staff coach with the Mission Viejo Soccer Club.
Dodge graduated from Vanguard University (then Southern California College) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies in 1993, and earned a Master's degree in Education in 1998 from California State University San Bernardino. During his years as a student-athlete at Vanguard University, he played for Coach Dave McLeish, who left VU after a 16-year coaching stint with the Lions. Dodge was a four-year player, served as team captain, and was selected to play in the Golden State Athletic Conference All-Star game as a senior.
Dodge began his coaching career at an early age, while still a student at Vanguard and a member of the Lions' soccer team. He has spent the last 20 years involved with boy's and girl's high school soccer and is currently the head coach for both teams at Aliso Niguel High School. In 2003, the girl's team won its most recent of four Sea View League Championships and made it to the CIF playoffs for the seventh year in a row. In 2001, Dodge's team won the girl's Southern Section CIF division one title and he was named the LA Times HS Coach of the Year and the Student Sports Magazine National Coach of the Year. He has won over 300 games in 20 years as a high school head coach.
Dodge is also a United States Soccer Federation "A" Licensed Coach and has applied years of time coaching club soccer, including presently serving as a staff coach for the US National Team U14 and U15 premier teams. Randy worked his way through the Olympic Development Program (ODP) with different age groups, serving as the head or assistant coach from 1998 to 2005.
In addition to his achievements and present positions at the high school and club level, Dodge helped in the development of the University of California, Irvine men's soccer program where he served as an assistant coach for three years in the late 1990's.
Randy and his wife Stephanie, a Vanguard alumna of 1994, reside in Aliso Viejo, California with their four children Chase (14), Tess (12), Blair (7), and Kendra (2).
